About Shepard Fairey, Obey
Shepard Fairey, known as Obey, is an American screen designer, illustrator, muralist and street artist. Born in 1970, he has been working in the world of graphic design and street art since his teenage years. Shepard Fairey is influenced by, among others, Andy Warhol and Alexander Rodtchenko. He has notably worked for famous music groups. His greatest glory comes from the 2008 US presidential campaign, when he created posters in support of Barack Obama with the slogan “HOPE”. Several museums exhibit works by Shepard Fairey, for example the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, or the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In Paris one can see his frescoes in various places, notably in the 13th arrondissement or in Beaubourg.
